This work, titled Exit from Eden, is by Kim Woo, an artist born in Daejeon who studied at Sejong University and is currently based in Icheon. Through the image of an old tree that appears to have exhausted its life, yet unexpectedly bursts into bloom, the painting quietly but profoundly captures a moment in which life is reborn after enduring hardship and extinction.
The blackened, cracked trunk stands silently like a being that once carried death and wounds within it, while the blossoms scattered above symbolize an irrepressible will to live.
