디나 파흐미 엘 루비, 『나일에서 한강까지』展 개최: 한-이집트 수교 30주년 기념… 두 문명의 예술적 대화

[코리아아트뉴스 박영석 기자] 한-이집트 수교 및 문화 교류 30주년을 기념해, 세계적인 이집트 출신 예술가 디나 파흐미 엘 루비(Dina Fahmy El Rouby)가 개인전 『나일에서 한강까지(From Nile to Han)』를 주한 이집트 대사관에서 개최했다.

 이번 전시는 6월 13일 VIP 오프닝을 시작으로, 14~15일 일반 관람객에게 공개되었으며 16일은 언론인 초청 아티스트 톡 행사가 있으며, 이집트와 한국의 문화유산을 상징하는 서예, 상형문자, 전통 문양 등을 융합한 개념미술(conceptual art) 작품 45점을 선보인다.  

작가는 “이집트의 고전적 미(美)와 한국의 역동적인 에너지를 하나로 표현하고자 했다”고 밝혔다. 특히 증강현실(AR) 기술을 활용한 몰입형 체험은 관람객이 작품 속으로 직접 들어가는 듯한 경험을 제공하며, 현대 예술에 대한 작가의 실험 정신을 보여준다. 

디나 파흐미 엘 루비는 파리, 런던, 베를린, 비엔나, 로마, 마드리드, 프라하, 두바이 등 세계 주요 도시에서 전시를 이어온 국제적인 예술가이자 예술 평론가, 문화 홍보대사로, 이집트 문명의 유산과 현대 예술을 융합한 작업으로 중동 현대미술계의 선도적 작가로 평가받고 있다
 

작가는 “예술은 국경과 시대를 넘어 우리 모두를 연결하는 보편적 언어”라며, “이번 전시를 통해 이집트와 한국이 공유하는 인간적 유대와 문화적 공감을 조명하고자 했다”고 전했다. 

전시 기간 동안 예상보다 많은 관람객이 방문했고, 일부 작품은 판매되기도 했다. 이번 전시를 기획한 칼레드 압델 라흐만(Khaled Abdel Rahman) 주한 이집트 대사는 “두 나라 간 30년의 우정과 문화 교류를 기념하는 뜻깊은 행사로, 예술인뿐 아니라 일반 대중에게도 두 문명의 예술적 대화를 경험할 수 있는 특별한 기회를 제공했다”고 밝혔다.

[Korea Art News = Reporter Youngseok Park] To commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic and cultural ties between Korea and Egypt, internationally acclaimed Egyptian artist Dina Fahmy El Rouby held her solo exhibition “From Nile to Han” at the Embassy of Egypt in Seoul.
 

The exhibition opened with a VIP event on June 13 and was open to the public on June 14 and 15, showcasing 45 conceptual artworks that blend Egyptian and Korean cultural heritage through symbols such as calligraphy, hieroglyphs, and traditional patterns.
 

The artist explained, “I aimed to express the classical beauty of Egypt and the dynamic energy of Korea as one.” Notably, the exhibition incorporated augmented reality (AR) technology, offering an immersive experience that allowed viewers to feel as if they were stepping directly into the artwork, highlighting the artist’s spirit of experimentation with contemporary expression.
 

Dina Fahmy El Rouby is recognized as a global artist, art critic, and cultural ambassador, having exhibited in major cities such as Paris, London, Berlin, Vienna, Rome, Madrid, Prague, and Dubai. Her work is acclaimed for merging the legacy of Egyptian civilization with modern art, positioning her as a pioneering figure in the contemporary Middle Eastern art scene.
 

“Art is a universal language that transcends borders and eras,” said El Rouby, adding, “Through this exhibition, I wanted to shine a light on the human connection and cultural empathy shared between Egypt and Korea.”
 

The exhibition drew more visitors than expected, with several pieces sold during the show. Ambassador Khaled Abdel Rahman, who organized the event, stated, “This meaningful exhibition commemorates three decades of friendship and cultural exchange between our two nations, offering a rare opportunity for both artists and the public to experience a dialogue between two great civilizations through art.”
